The source of the tobacco used in the Byrons is a closely guarded secret. This has led to swirling rumors that tobacco may have its origins just south of Miami. This may be nothing more than marketing buzz, but I can attest that the quality and consistency of this blend is top-notch. With a rich, full bodied smoke and nuanced spice, this is the most well balanced and perfectly constructed cigar I have smoked this year. If you're going all out, go for a Byron.
Classy and Understated
Diamond Crown Robustos
For a sophisticated crowd accustomed to the finer things, or for those who just want to spend an evening appreciating the finer things, the Diamond Crown is an outstanding choice. The double-fermented Connecticut wrapper provides a smooth smoke that is mild enough for even novice smokers, but complex enough to keep experienced smokers interested. An added bonus is that they come in boxes of 15, which is a great size for most parties. The large ring gauge on these cigars will also look great in the post-New Years pictures that show up on Facebook on New Years Day.
Unique and Trendy
Even though in my recent review, I found that the Foundry Lovelace wasn't exactly my cup of tea, the mild flavor and unique presentation will get this cigar noticed among any group with eclectic tastes. Your Steampunk friends can wear the Gear Ring proudly, your Hipster friends can wear them ironically, and everyone can enjoy one of the most unconventional cigars around. Foundry already has a loyal following. An exotic drink, a Foundry cigar (while wearing the gear ring on your finger) may be the way to ring in the New Year.
Relaxed and Friendly
Hobson’s Choice Triple Wrapper
Now this is a conversation piece. When you present these cigars at your party everyone will be amazed at the presentation. Three different wrappers, three different blends, signify a unique and extraordinary cigar smoking experience. This is a very festive cigar. Your guests first enjoy a Connecticut Shade wrapper then transition into a Habano wrapper and finally enjoy the Maduro wrapper. This is one that will be talked about for a long time.
Frugal and Fun
Castro Brothers Blue Ridge Maduro
When I revisited this cigar for a review recently, I was reminded why its one of our best sellers. Great construction and smooth mild flavor will allow pretty much anyone to enjoy this cigar. Its also one of the best cigar values around, with boxes available for under $80, everyone you give one to will think you paid twice as much. Perfect for the party. Grab a box.
Short and Sweet
Padron 1926 #35
If you don't have a lot of time to get away from your guests, but still want a cigar you will remember, you can't go wrong with the #35. This short robusto will give you about 15-20 minutes of smoking time, and deliver all the spice, richness, and consistency you expect from the Padron Anniversary series.
These choices are geared to those buying a box of one kind of cigar for all of their guests. If you plan on offering a variety of cigars, remember it is considered bad form to say that any cigars in a humidor is "off limits" to guests. I usually put a selection of cigars that I want to share in a smaller humidor the holds 20 - 30 cigars, while keeping those cigars that I am saving for a special occasion or aging in my larger humidors. And if you want to offer a variety of cigars, remember that Davidus offers mixed-box discounts on any purchase of at least 20 cigars. You get the same 10% discount that we offer on our boxes, and a variety of cigars that will be sure to please.
